Please take a look at the works of this outstanding artist featuring paintings of our equine, canine, and
(soon) feline friends. Enjoy!
A portrait of your beloved horse
or dog is a wonderful way to immortalize that special "person" in
your life. When considering commissioning a portrait, you'll
want to see if the artist is really adept at capturing the true
personality of the subject or if the paintings tend to be
"cookie-cutter" where it's just "a horse" or "a dog" with the
subject's markings. Another thing to watch out for is if
everything (eyes, cheeks, nose, etc.) are in alignment and not
twisted. It's very important that everything lines up
correctly! Finally, proportion is another important aspect in
a well done portrait. Nothing should be too big or small,
although in the painting of the Thoroughbred Manny's Prospect
(pictured above on the right), the horse does look somewhat out of
proportion, but that's because at the time this painting was done,
he was fresh off the track and an early four-year-old and hadn't yet
grown into himself, nor fully matured (most horses physically mature
between five and seven years of age, although Arabians and the
Spanish breeds tend to take a little longer).
This is a very graphics-intensive
site. Please be patient while images download. Thank
you!
